WI Drunk Driver Petition May 15, 2008

I’ve posted before about Mark Benson the former Wisconsin Doctor who has a history of injuring and killing innocent victims on the road.   Badgerblogger has drafted a petition that I encourage everyone to read and sign:

Personally, I think we need to take drunk drivers off of the roads and into jail/prison.  (I’ve posted about this before…what happens if the drunk driver borrows someone elses car? They’ll still be drunk and behind the wheel).  But, I think the idea behind this petition about drunk drivers is at least a start.  Please take the time to sign it.  Or better yet, call your legislator!

I don’t know what kind of response you’re receiving with this post, but i can say that i agree more than know. I was hit by a second offender of drunk driving on June 26, and he was driving a friends car. I lay in bed with broken toes, wrist, and back and bruised lungs and heart while he walks out on a 1500$ bond. So i will contact my legislature, and, God willing, just as he did for me to remain alive, something may get done

Joe,

I’m sorry to hear about what happened. I hope the doctors take good care of you and that you get better soon.

I’m not sure if you are from Wisconsin. If you are be sure to talk with the County Victim/Witness coordinator. According to Wisconsin law the bond must be used like restitution to help pay for lost wages and medical expenses.
