On behalf of the other speakers, committee members and program chairs, Thanks!  This was a very successful conference.  We covered everything from intellectual property, practice management and marketing to personal injury and, of course, cutting edge technology and blogging.

I’d like to thank Rob Teuber and Chris Moander for helping put together a great presentation on Blogging, Podcasts and the Internet.  I hope that our audience got some useful information from yesterday’s presentation.

A fellow Marquette alumnus emailed me with some kind words and a link to his blog.  I think you should check it out.   It’s called The Profit Power of Creativity.

In my “trial lawyer world “creativity is a huge asset (now that I think of it where is creativity NOT an asset).  When you can think outside the box (while staying within the confines of the law) this job is more fun and more profitable.

Take a look at Mark’s blog and take his advice.  We need more crab apples in the world.

I’m speaking at the Wisconsin Solo and Small Firm Conference that will be held at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.  The conference will take place October 23-25, 2008.

Tomorrow is the LAST day for the early bird registration discounts.  You can certainly register and reserve a room at a later date but you’ll lose the discount.

I hope to see you there!

UPDATE: I just reserved our rooms.  You gotta check out the kalahari’s website.  I hate to sound like an ad but for $139 a night (plus tax) you get a room with a kitchen, king sized bed and sofa sleeper, two tvs, patio and 4 passes to the water park.  Can’t beat it.  I hope you can join us at the conference.

Why Hire A Personal Injury Attorney? April 21, 2008

I think personal injury attorneys are asked this question more than any other.  It’s a legitimate question.  Injury attorneys in Wisconsin usually charge a contingent fee of 1/3 of the settlement or verdict in addition to costs.  Why hire a plummer if you can fix your leaky faucet yourself?

Surprisingly, Allstate Insurance has helped answer the question.  Allstate’s own website states “represented claims settle for 2-3 times more than unrepresented claims.”  (See page C000011298).   Allstate goes on to urge their adjuster to convince injured victims to NOT hire an attorney.

Why do represented victims of car accidents, motorcycle accidents or other personal injury matters recover more than unrepresented victims?  I’d like to this because personal injury attorneys know the law and won’t leave any stone unturned.  The right Personal Injury Attorney will make sure that the injured person receives the compensation they are due.  Take a look at my earlier comments about what a case is worth.

Kudos to Illinois Attorney Howard Zimmerle for finding this information.
