Ever wonder why a whole bunch of kind-of-related web pages will show up when you search on google or yahoo. For example, when you type “Wisconsin Dog Bite Attorney” attorneys from Illinois, Michigan and California pop up in your results. (Quick hint: Make sure you read the entire web page and know where your attorney is licensed. Or, when you call ask if they have the ability to file a lawsuit in your state.)
I think the reason is embedded keywords. You can’t see them unless you look at the “source” of the web page. I’ve cut and pasted from a few websites that came up when I searched for “Wisconsin Dog Bite Attorney”.
I thought the content was interesting:

Notice there are lots of mispelled words just in case you and me are in a hurry and don’t know exactly how a city or “attorney” is spelled. Also, “cow” and “cattle” are embedded in a “dog bite” search. Kind of weird, huh?

A lot of personal injury law is investigating the facts of a collision. We’ve come across this useful website that identifies drunk drivers in the Sheboygan, Wisconsin area.

When you are the victim of a motorcycle, car or truck accident and need a vehicle don’t be shy about getting a rental.
I do NOT recommend you give a statement to the at-fault insurance company. I do recommend you get the claim number and telephone number for the at-fault insurance company’s adjuster. Then call Hertz, Enterprise or the local rental company in your area. Tell the rental company you’re the victim of a motor vehicle collision and give them the claim number and ajduster’s telephone number. The rental company will then confirm this info and, more often than not, put you into a rental on the spot.
I almost always handle the property damage settlement for free. I get paid from the bodily injury (pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost wage and mileage etc) portion of the claim.
If you call soon after the collision I’ll be happy to guide you in the right direction.

This is more of a “For Your Information” post.
I travel almost everwhere in Wisconsin for my clients. If you check out Groth’s website you’ll see that we’ve handled cases in almost every county in Wisconsin. So, if a client is located in Marinette will they have to drive to Milwaukee to meet with me? NO. If necessary I’ll be on the road to meet in Marinette.
In most situations the case can be handled over the phone. For example, I’m handling cases for a number of people in Chicago and a few in Florida. I don’t fly to Florida or take the train to Chicago to meet with them. The phone and email work just fine.
Don’t worry about where in Wisconsin you happen to live or happen to have been injured. If it is important to meet at the scene of the incident I’ll be there.

I had the privilege to help a woman injured after she was struck by a multiple drunk driver. Luckily, her injuries were not severe. She is still with us and doing much, if not all, of what she could do before the collision.
The at fault insurance company did NOT exclude punitive damages. This is rare. Very rare. The vast majority of the time insurance companies that write policies in Wisconsin specifically exclude any payment of punitive damages for their insureds.
It is important that you check. You may just find that needle in the haystack. In this recent case it was a great benefit to my client.
You’ve probably discovered that I don’t care for multiple drunk drivers. If you or your attorney want assistance against a Wisconsin drunk driver that injured you feel free to call me. I’d be happy to review the policy of insurance to see if you can obtain punitive damages from the drunk driver’s auto insurance.
By the way, don’t give up if insurance doesn’t cover punitive damages. Make sure you check into the assets of the driver that caused the auto accident.

It seems simple and I say it a lot: Follow your doctor’s advice. If after an auto accident you are told to not pick up certain things that way 15 or more pounds, then don’t do it. No matter what some may say, everyone wants the victims of car accidents to get better fast. You pay the doctor big money to advise you how to get better fast.
Your doctors know what they are doing. Follow their advice. If you are on work restrictions then follow them. If you are to “take it easy” then do it. There are always going to be exceptions, and I understand that. But, after an auto accident and before you decide to go do something ask yourself what your physician would say.

It must be summer. I’ve been talking with a lot of new clients injured by dogs. For everyone’s information below I’ve linked to and posted Wisconsin’s Dog Bite Law (Sec. 174 Wis. Stats.)
When a dog causes injury to a person for the first time (“without notice”):
“the owner of a dog is liable for the full amount of damages caused by the dog injuring or causing injury to a person, domestic animal or property.”
When a dog owner knows that a dog has caused injury in the past and the dog causes injury again (“after notice”):
“the owner of a dog is liable for 2 times the full amount of damages caused by the dog injuring or causing injury to a person, domestic animal or property if the owner was notified or knew that the dog previously injured or caused injury to a person, domestic animal or property.”

I read an article in the Oshkosh Northwestern recently that mentioned a few federal studies. One stated that Wisconsin led the nation in the number of adult residents who reported driving while under the influence. This was a federal study from April of this year. Old news but an important reminder that Wisconsin needs to change it drunk driving laws.
I didn’t recall hearing about a 2006 study by the FBI that found Wisconsin had the sixth highest arrest rate for drunk drivers. Also, Wisconsin had the fourth highest arrest rate for liquor law violations.
I’ve handled cases for many victims of drunk driving. Just the other day I spoke with a client that was struck by a drunk driver whose blood alcohol contect was .314 (I think that is pretty close to alcohol poisoning and death). That drunk driver has at least one other drunk driving arrest.
If you are the victim of drunk driving I’d like to help. At the very least I’d appreciate it if you’d contact your legislator and then email me. I’d like to keep track of which legislators have been contacted by victims in their district. The next time an important anti-drunk driving vote reaches Madison it’s important that the legislature is kept accountable!

“There is no greater poster child for insurance industry greed than Allstate.” The American Association for Justice recently published a report of the ten worst insurance companies. Allstate won the prize!
Other “honorable mentions” of auto/home insurance companies that write policies in Wisconsin are: AIG (3), State Farm (4), Farmers (7), Liberty Mutual (10).
Is there any wonder why victims of auto accidents, dog bites, motorcycle accidents and the like hire personal injury attorneys when Allstate’s insured is at fault?

Where does a bond go? When someone charged with criminal activity posts bond what happens to the money?
According to Section 969.13(5) of the Wisconsin Statutes when a defendant posts a bond that amount of money shall go first to the victim of the crime. For example, when a drunk driver injures someone and is charged with a crime the money he/she posts as bond must be saved by the court to pay to the victim as a form of restitution. Sounds like a good use of the money to me.
If you are the victim of a crime be sure to ask the victim witness advocate working on your case to keep you informed about the status of the bond.
